This guide walks you through customizing the welcome screen in an Interact form.
You’ll be able to:
Edit your welcome heading and description
Change the start button text
Customize colors, fonts, and button shape through your form’s theme
Preview your welcome screen before publishing
Before You Start
Make sure you have:
An Interact account with access to Forms
An existing form, or a new blank form
A short introduction explaining what your form is for
Your welcome screen includes three parts:
Part | What it does |
Heading | Introduces the purpose of your form |
Description | Gives people additional context before they begin |
Start button | Takes people into your form |
💡 Note: The welcome screen appears before your questions. Use it to explain what people should expect.
Step 1: Open Your Welcome Screen
Log in to your Interact dashboard.
Click Forms in the left sidebar.
Find your form and click Edit. If you’re viewing its overview, click Edit form.
Click Welcome in the list on the left side of the builder.
To create a new form, click Create form in the Forms dashboard, then choose Blank form or a template.
Step 2: Edit Your Heading
Click the heading on the welcome-screen canvas. On a blank form, the prompt reads Say hello! Introduce your form.
Enter a heading that clearly describes your form.
Review the wording to make sure people can quickly understand why they’re here.
For example, an event registration form could use:
Heading: Join Our Next Workshop
Write a clear heading
Keep your heading short and specific. Name the activity, request, or opportunity so people know what they’re about to do.
Other examples include:
Share Your Feedback
Request a Consultation
Join Our Newsletter
💡 Note: Edit the heading on the canvas. The form name at the top of the builder is a separate control used to name the form in your dashboard.
Step 3: Add a Description
Click Description (optional) beneath the heading, or click the existing description.
Add a short explanation of what your form is for.
Include any details people need before they begin.
For the workshop example, you could use:
Description: Share your contact details and tell us what you’d like to learn. We’ll send you the workshop details before the event.
Help people know what to expect
Use the description to explain:
What information you’ll ask for
Why you’re collecting it
What happens after someone submits the form
If you include an estimated completion time, test the form first so the estimate is realistic.
💡 Note: The description is optional. Keep it focused on the information people need to get started.
Step 4: Change the Start Button Text
Click the Start button on the welcome-screen canvas to open Form text. You can also click the Text icon on the right side of the builder.
Find Start button in the panel.
Enter the label you want people to see.
For example, you could use:
Get Started
Register Now
Share Feedback
💡 Note: The Form text panel also contains Continue button and Submit button fields. Use Start button to change the welcome-screen button label.
Step 5: Customize the Design
Use the Theme icon—the palette on the right side of the builder—to adjust the form’s visual style.
Create a theme
Click the Theme icon.
In the new-theme panel, select a starting theme.
Click Start from [theme name].
Enter a Theme name.
Customize the settings below, then click Create theme to save it.
Colors and fonts
Use Accent, Background, and Text to choose your colors. Use Heading font and Body font to select your fonts.
Choose colors with enough contrast to make your heading, description, and button easy to read.
Border shape
Choose Sharp, Subtle, Rounded, or Pill to adjust the border shape used by the theme.
💡 Note: Theme settings style the form, including its welcome screen. Review your questions and ending screen after changing the theme so the whole form looks consistent.
