How to Customize Your Form’s Design

Use themes to give your Interact form a consistent look with colors, fonts, and border shapes that suit your brand.

Written by Damaris Pacheco

This guide walks you through choosing and customizing a form theme.

You’ll be able to:

  • Switch to an existing theme

  • Create a theme from a preset or a copy of one of your themes

  • Customize colors, heading and body fonts, and border shape

  • Preview and publish your design

Before You Start

Make sure you have:

  • An Interact account with access to Forms

  • An existing form, or a new blank form

  • Your brand colors and preferred fonts, if you have them

💡 Note: A theme styles the form as a whole. Review the welcome screen, questions, and ending screen when you change the design.

Step 1: Open the Theme Panel

  1. Log in to your Interact dashboard.

  2. Click Forms in the left sidebar.

  3. Find your form and click Edit. If you’re viewing its overview, click Edit form.

  4. Click the Theme icon—the palette on the right side of the builder.

  5. Find Theme in the design panel and click Choose a theme, or the current theme selector.

Step 2: Choose How to Start

Use an existing theme

  1. Open the theme selector.

  2. Select the existing theme you want to use.

  3. Review the form’s updated appearance.

💡 Note: The theme panel states that switching restyles the current form only and saves right away. Preview the result before publishing it.

Create a new theme

  1. Open the theme selector and click Create new theme.

  2. Under Preset themes, choose a starting design. If you have saved themes, you can also choose one under Your themes.

  3. Click Start from [theme name].

  4. Enter a descriptive name in Theme name.

  5. Customize the settings in the following steps.

For example, you could name a theme “Workshop Registration” or “Brand Colors.”

💡 Note: Choosing a theme under Your themes as a starting point creates an independent copy. The original theme and its forms are untouched. Nothing is created until you click Create theme.

Step 3: Customize Your Colors

The theme editor includes three color controls:

Setting

Use it to

Accent

Choose the theme’s accent color

Background

Choose the background color

Text

Choose the text color

  1. Click the color swatch beside Accent, Background, or Text.

  2. Choose a color using the picker, or enter a hex code in the color field.

  3. Review the result on the canvas.

  4. Repeat for the other colors as needed.

Use your brand colors

If your brand guidelines include hex codes, use those values to keep colors consistent. For example, a hex code looks like #204060.

💡 Note: Choose text and background colors with enough contrast to read comfortably. Check buttons, descriptions, and answer choices as well as headings.

Step 4: Choose Your Fonts

  1. Open Heading font in the theme editor.

  2. Browse the font list or use its search field to find a font.

  3. Select the font you want for headings.

  4. Open Body font and select the font you want for body text.

  5. Review both short and long text in your form.

Keep the form easy to read

Use a clear body font for descriptions and answers. If you choose a more distinctive heading font, check that longer headings remain readable on smaller screens.

💡 Note: The font menus include System Font and named fonts. Choose from the options available in the list.

Step 5: Choose a Border Shape

Under Border shape, choose one of the available options:

  • Sharp

  • Subtle

  • Rounded

  • Pill

Review buttons and answer controls on the canvas to see how the selected shape fits your design.

Step 6: Save Your New Theme

  1. Review the theme name, colors, fonts, and border shape.

  2. Click Create theme to save the new theme.

  3. Wait for All changes saved in the builder.

If you don’t want to keep the new theme, use Discard before creating it.

💡 Note: New theme · not created yet means the theme is still being prepared. The new-theme editor indicates that only the current form will use it when created.
