This guide walks you through connecting Interact with beehiiv so quiz leads are automatically added and subscribed to your beehiiv publication. You’ll be able to:
Send quiz leads to beehiiv in real time
Choose which beehiiv publication new leads should be subscribed to
Map quiz results and answers to beehiiv subscriber custom fields
Add subscribers to beehiiv automations based on quiz outcomes
Before you start
Make sure you have the following:
An active Interact account
An active beehiiv account
Access to API keys in beehiiv
At least one created quiz in Interact
Note: This feature is only available in the latest Interact user dashboard at app.tryinteract.com. Log in there to access it.
Step 1. Get your beehiiv API key
Log in to your beehiiv account.
Click Settings (bottom-left).
In the Settings menu, select API.
Under API Keys, click + Create New API Key.
Name the key, then click Create New API Key.
Copy the API key and store it in a secure location.
⚠️ Keep your API key secure. Anyone with access to this key can add or update subscribers in your beehiiv account.
Step 2. Connect beehiiv integration
Log in to Interact.
From your dashboard, go to Quizzes.
Click Edit to open quiz builder.
Under Integration, find beehiiv and click Connect.
Paste your beehiiv API key.
Click Connect.
You’ll see a confirmation once the connection is successful.
Step 3. Select your beehiiv publication
After connecting, choose where Interact should subscribe new leads in beehiiv.
Select your beehiiv publication from the dropdown.
Click Next
❗ Important : If you go back and change your publication later, all lead generation settings associated with the previous publication will be reset. You’ll need to reconfigure your settings to match the new publication.
Step 4. Map quiz results to beehiiv
When someone completes your quiz, Interact can take different actions in beehiiv based on the quiz result they receive.
In the integration setup flow, go to the Results step.
You’ll see each quiz result listed separately.
For each quiz result, you can choose what happens in beehiiv by adding actions.
Available actions for beehiiv include:
Update Custom Field
Add to Automation
Update custom field
Store quiz-related data (like the result name) in a beehiiv subscriber custom field.
Click Add actions.
Find Update Custom Field.
Select the beehiiv custom field you want to update.
Confirm the value (it defaults to the quiz result title, but you can customize it).
Add subscribers to a beehiiv automation
Add new subscribers to a beehiiv automation based on the quiz result they receive.
Click Add actions.
Find Add to Automation.
Select the beehiiv automation from the dropdown.
Click Save Changes.
After you’ve configured actions for one result, repeat for the other results, then click Save & Continue.
Step 5. Map quiz answers to beehiiv (optional)
In addition to quiz results, you can also send individual quiz answers to beehiiv and use them for segmentation and automation.
This works the same way as mapping quiz results, but instead of triggering actions based on the final result, actions are triggered based on how someone answers a specific question.
To skip this step, hit Next.
Tip: Quiz answers are great for capturing preferences, intent, or qualifiers (for example: budget, experience level, or goals).
Step 6. Map opt‑in form fields to beehiiv
Next, configure beehiiv integration settings and map your Interact opt-in form fields to beehiiv subscriber custom fields.
Go to the Fields step.
Review how your fields are mapped.
The Email field is pre-mapped and can’t be changed.
For each remaining field, click the dropdown and select the matching beehiiv custom field.
Click Next.
Step 7. Configure beehiiv integration settings
Go to the Settings step.
Configure:
Reactivate Existing Subscribers
Send Welcome Email
Click Next.
Step 8. Send a test lead
Before your integration is fully active, you’ll need to send a test lead.
This step verifies the connection between Interact and beehiiv and activates the integration.
Click Test Integration.
Confirm the test contact is successfully created/subscribed in beehiiv.
Step 9. Publish your quiz
Any changes you make to your integration won’t be live until your quiz is published.
Before sharing your quiz:
Click Publish in the top-right corner of the quiz editor.
Confirm your changes by clicking Publish changes.
Once published, your beehiiv integration will be active on the live version of your quiz.

What happens if I go back in and change my publication under Lead Generation for beehiiv?
When you change your publication, all lead generation settings associated with the previous publication will be reset.
You’ll need to reconfigure your other lead generation settings to match the new publication.
Disable beehiiv integration for your quiz
If you want to stop sending leads from a specific quiz to beehiiv, you can disable the integration without disconnecting your beehiiv account.
Edit the quiz in Interact.
Go to Lead Generation > Integrations.
Navigate to Connect step.
Click Disable.
⚠️ Remember: After making changes to your integration or opt-in form, publish all changes to update your live quiz.
Once disabled, new quiz submissions from this quiz will no longer be sent to beehiiv. Your beehiiv account remains connected and other quizzes are unaffected.
❗Important: After disconnecting an integration from your quiz, your opt-in form will remain disabled until a new or existing integration is connected. Select .csv File Download to keep your opt-in form enabled with no integration connected.
Disconnect your beehiiv account
Disconnecting your beehiiv account removes the authentication between Interact and beehiiv entirely. This is similar to uninstalling the integration.
Log in to your Interact dashboard.
Go to Integrations.
Find beehiiv.
Click Disconnect.
❗ Important: After disconnecting your beehiiv integration, the following effects occur:
All beehiiv integrations across all quizzes will stop working.
No new quiz leads will be sent to beehiiv.
Existing subscribers in beehiiv are not removed.
If you reconnect beehiiv later, you’ll need to reconfigure the integration for each quiz.
