For standard logic quizzes: The ideal number of questions is 13. This includes personality type quizzes, assessments, and trivia quizzes.
For branching logic quizzes: The ideal number of questions is 7. Branching logic quizzes can be shorter because the questions branch off of each other and you can gather information more quickly.
How did we decide 13 questions for standard quizzes and 7 questions for branching logic quizzes was the right number?
These numbers are based on the top performing quizzes built on the Interact platform. Those quizzes have been taken over 10 million times with an average completion rate of 70% and an average opt-in rate of 41% for lead generation.
What types of questions should I ask in my quiz?
There are three main types of questions. Depending on the needs of your audience, how many of each type of question you ask will be different.
Personal Questions: These are all questions revolving around "Who are you? or "Who do you want to be?"
Preference Questions: These are all questions revolving around "What do you want?"
Logistical Questions: These are all questions revolving around "How do you operate?"
Only ask questions that help you provide the quiz taker with a better outcome, unless you are very specifically using some of the questions to gather data for your own needs. If you are using questions to gather data, limit those questions to just what's necessary.
