How To Send Quiz Data To Your Email Marketing Platform

Collect quiz results and answers from your users and send this data to your email marketing Platform.

Select Opt-in Form Fields

Step 1: From your Interact Dashboard click "Edit"

Step 2: In the quiz builder, click the switch marked to the side of "Lead Generation" so that it changes from OFF to ON.

Step 2: Follow the outlined steps to select what contact data you would like to collect from your quiz-takers and customize your opt-in form.

Step 3: Select Contact Fields

In the middle of the opt-in page select the contact fields that you want to collect from your quiz takers. These fields will be information that you will be collecting in the opt-in form from your quiz and from your quiz takers. You also have the ability to add custom fields by clicking the button that says "+ Add New Field."

We recommend asking for first name and email address so you can personalize your emails. Only ask for other fields if you are actively using them, as each additional field will lower the conversion rate of the form.

Note: If you are not seeing what is pictured below, make sure you have "Form" selected in the top middle of the page.

Once you have completed the opt-in form settings and form content you can click on "save and continue" at the bottom right-hand side.

Step 4: Select your email marketing program

Once you have moved on from the opt-in form, you will see the list of direct integrations on the next page ( screenshot below). You will select the direct integration you want to connect your quiz to.

For the purposes of this example, we will be selecting Mailchimp to showcase the quiz data you are able to collect. Please keep in mind you are able to select any direct integration you are using.

Please do not move on to the next section before connecting your Integration first.

Select Map Triggers to Integration Actions

Step 1: Select Quiz Result Triggers

Select a quiz result to set up. Click on an option from the list of quiz results in the left sidebar. Once you have selected the result click on "add action" to see the dropdown.

Step 2: Select Actions

To edit actions, click Add Action and a slider will appear from the right side. You will see a list of available actions to choose from in the Email marketing platform. For example, in MailChimp, you may either add a new contact to an email list or update a merge field.

Keep in mind each email marketing platform is different. These actions allow you to add your quiz result to a specific list/sequence to segment your audience and collect their data.

Step 3: Click on the dropdown

Select the list you wish to add the quiz result to. When you select the dropdown all available options will load in. Select the appropriate item you would like to connect.

Step 4: Complete updating all desired actions.

Each Integration is different on the different actions that you have to select from. In this particular example, it is required that you select a "list" for the result. The "merge fields" and "tag" feature are optional. Once you have completed all your desired actions please click on "save and continue."

Step 5: Summary of what actions are connected

When you go back to the main page you will see a summary of what actions are connected to each trigger. You can edit existing actions or add additional actions. If you want to use an existing setup for all quiz results, click "Apply To All Results" and follow the instructions.

You can also edit each individual result differently by segmenting them to a different list. Just follow steps 1-4 for each respected result.

Step 6: Double-check your result actions

Before moving on to the next section you want to make sure that all actions have been completed for each result. You can identify that each result is completed by seeing a "lighting rod" by each result.

Once all results have been completed by selecting the desired actions you can now move on to the next section and click on "save and continue."

Select Quiz Answer Triggers

Step 1: Select Quiz Answer Triggers

In addition to quiz results, you can select questions and connect them to certain actions. The individual quiz answers can be sent to a specific list or have them tagged in your email marketing platform (not available for all integrations).

The setup is identical to the setup for quiz results. The answers to setup can be selected from the list in the left sidebar as shown below.

When you are done selecting the appropriate actions for the questions you want to select actions to you can click on "save and continue" to move on to the next section.

Please keep in mind that this section is "optional".

It is entirely up to you to select questions to segment. You can also skip this step by click in on "save and continue" without selecting anything.

Map Opt-In Form Fields


​Step 1: Map Opt-In Form Fields

In this section, you will find an overview of how to map your opt-in fields to your email marketing platform fields. Each field should match a field that is found on your email marketing platform. ( screenshot below)

Step 2: Match appropriate fields

Use the dropdowns to select the field you would like to map to the specified opt-in form field. In the example below, we are going to connect the field First Name to the MailChimp merge field First Name.

Step 3: Complete and match fields

After selecting and matching each field appropriately they must all match accordingly. Once this is completed please click on "save and continue."

Test Your Integration Setup

Step 1: Test your integration setup

Once you are on this step you are almost done!

In this step click on "Test Integration."

Step 2: Fill in Test fields

Please fill in each test field that appears on the screen. Once you have done so you can click on "Send Test Lead to my List" button to ensure the connection was successful.

If you have done everything correctly you should receive a message in a green highlighted box stating that the integration has been successful.

If you received the message above you have completed all steps successfully and can exit that screen.

If you are receiving an error message, please go back and check your settings in all sections and repeat the steps.

Step 3: Publish your Quiz

You are now done with and can move on to publish your quiz.
